Rome & Assisi

Set atop a hillside about 80 miles away from Rome, Assisi is the birthplace of St Francis, founder of the Franciscan Order and the Patron Saint of Italy. Assisi is a particularly picturesque town boasting much art and fine architecture. It offers a peaceful and serene comparison to Rome. This is why we find so many of our groups decide to combine the two locations for the ultimate pilgrimage experience.

Morning Afternoon Evening Day 1 Fly to Rome. Guided visit to the Basilica of St Paul’s Outside the Walls on the transfer from the airport to the hotel. Free time subject to flights. Evening at leisure Day 2 Two hour guided tour of St Peter’s Basilica. Afternoon / evening at leisure Day 3 Attend the Papal General Audience in St Peter’s Square. Afternoon / evening at leisure Day 4 Morning guided visit to Colosseum. Afternoon visit to the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon and Piazza Navona. Day 5 Full day guided tour to Catacombs and the Scala Sancta. Afternoon visit to the Basilicas of St John Lateran and St Mary Major. Day 6 Morning guided visit of the Sistine Chapel and Vatican Gardens. Free time in the Museums. Day 7 Free day to explore independently. Day 8 Free time (depending on flight time).
