Our 7 day tour of the Mediterranean island of Malta is a journey to discover impressive ancient sites, including the prehistoric cave of Ghar Dalam and the UNESCO World Heritage site of the temple of Harg Qim. We explore Valletta and learn about the Knights of St john, visit St Johns, St Agatha and St Paul’s cathedrals, where St Paul converted Malta to Christianity.
We also visit St Paul’s church and catacombs before discovering the most amazing Mosta cathedral, with its beautiful dome and learn about the Mosta miracle. We stop for a walk along the bastions, visit the Museum of Roman Antiquities and the Zabbar sanctuary and religious Museum. We end our tour with visits to Gozo with its caves, temples, grottos, and citadel before visiting St Paul’s bay, the chapel of San pawl Milqi, the Marian Sanctuary and enjoy a relaxing boat trip through the creeks of the grand harbour.
Fly to Malta. Transfer to hotel in Qawra, St Paul’s Bay.
Visit Valletta and learn about the Knights of St John. Enjoy superb panoramic views from the Upper Barracca Gardens and visit St John’s Co-Cathedral to view many of Malta’s treasures (including a Caravaggio). Proceed to Casa Rocca Picola to see how nobility used to live. In the afternoon visit St Paul’s Shipwreck Church containing relics of St Paul, then on to the domed Carmelite church, concluding with an audio-visual spectacular “The Sacred Island Show”.
Visit Mdina, ‘The Noble City’. See the Chapel of St Agatha and St Paul’s Cathedral, where St Paul converted Malta to Christianity. Visit the Cathedral Museum and the Palazzo Falzon. Take a walk along the bastions, visit the Museum of Roman Antiquities, St Paul’s Church and the Catacombs. Stop at Mosta Cathedral to learn of the ‘miracle of Mosta’.
Transfer by coach to visit Senglea Church, St Lawrence Church and the Zabbar Sanctuary and Religious Museum. Visit Marsaxlokk, the Tarxien Temples, the prehistoric cave of Ghar Dalam, the Temples of Hagar Qim and Mnajdra.
Visit Gozo. See the Ggantija prehistoric temples, Xaghra Grottos, the Church of Xewkija and Calypso’s Cave. During the afternoon, visit the Basilica of Ta’ Pinu and Dwerja, then conclude by visiting the Citadel, including the Cathedral in Victoria. Dinner and overnight back in Qawra.
Visit St Paul’s Bay and the Chapel of San Pawl Milqi then drive on to Mellieha to visit the Marian Sanctuary. Enjoy a boat trip through the creeks of Grand harbour, then visit some of the many shops in Sliema before returning to the hotel.
Free time subject to flights. Fly home.
